You’re reading this Profollica review, concerned about your lackluster and dwindling locks. You know that medical options exist but the expense and side-effects are offputting. Still, there’s nothing worse that paying for snake oil that could not even grow hair on a snake … that is, if a snake could grow hair. But it’s not unreasonable to expect that a natural hair product should reinvigorate follicles, and that is precisely what Profollica claims it will do if used in the prescribed manner.
Now I notice there are many incredulous Profollica reviews online. The authors would have you believe that the use of the product can grow hair overnight. Others simply copy or echo the Profollica sales page.
In contrast, this Profollica review will be all-encompassing, honest, and balanced. My goal is to familiarize the reader with the product, its ingredients, its claims, real testimonials, and legitimate criticism.
Profollica – The Problem it Must Address
Oh, the angst of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), that darn male hormone that compromises the hair follicles of men and women. Simply, testosterone mixes with the enzyme, 5 alpha reductase, causing hair-threatening DHT.
The resulting hormone is an innate enemy of the poor, helpless dermal papilla whose only job is to suck in the nutrients from the skin’s blood capillaries for the hair follicles to grow. DHT gets in the way of this process. Unfortunately, the dermal papilla has a number of androgen receptors, and DHT blocks the ability for it to absorb these vital nutrients.
The outcome: hair miniaturization and the propensity of the hair to happily languish in the resting phase.
Any hair loss product worth its salt must address DHT and get those lazy, vulnerable follicles to work together, and happily remain in a growing phase.
Here is a quick video of a doctor’s perception of the primary hair loss instigator, DHT – the exact androgen that Profollica targets:
Alright, I Get the Science Lesson but What Exactly is Profollica?
Profollica is a holistic, natural product that targets DHT from the inside and outside. It’s a hair care system, comprised of an oral supplement and a topical formulation. You take the supplement daily while you consistently use the shampoo and activator gel.
While the supplement, shampoo, and activator gel can be used separately, there is synergy between all these products. It’s best for you and your follicles to use the complete system if optimal results are to materialize.
Please note that I called Profollica’s distributor, Leading Edge Marketing, and the representative mentioned that the shampoo is not a mandatory staple. Again, while its best to continuously take the supplement and use the activator gel, you may decide to use your favorite shampoo as a substitute.

Tell Me More About the Profollica Supplement – What’s In It?
There is science behind the supplement’s ingredients. Each supplement contains a bevy of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Some of these ingredients wage war on hair’s primary foe, DHT. Other ingredients are used to ensure that the user is not deficient in any important hair building block. (Think of it: how healthy can your hair be if you’re deficient in any vitamin, mineral, or amino acid that the body needs in general.)
The hair-friendly vitamin B and its derivatives are included. For example, the supplement contains niacin (Vitamin B3) for circulation and for proper functioning of the nervous system and skin health, in general.
Vitamin B12, crucial in the formation of red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout our system, is often in short supply for folks with hair problems. Now an added reserve of B12 is introduced.
Vitamin B5 is included because it is instrumental in maintaining hair luster. It also helps to keep hair color – along with other Profollica ingredients, L-Tyrosine and PABA.
The supplement includes a smorgasbord of hair-building ingredients. One hair favorite is L-Cysteine, a sulphur-containing amino acid that improves the growth of hair, along with its quality and texture.
Tried-and-true ingredients, such as biotin, chlorophyll, and zinc strengthen hair shafts, encourage growth, and repair underlying tissue.
Ingredients, such as L-lysine thwart DHT by lowering the production of that instigator, 5 alpha-reductase. The diet may be lacking in this amino acid where supplementation can benefit.
Profillica Suds Solution – What’s in the Shampoo and Special Activator Gel?
Let’s start with the activator gel. It’s anti-DHT packed with biotin, niacinamide, and zinc gluconate. (The zinc gluconate also prevents hair-threatening sebum buildup.)
Other specialized ingredients include cinnamomum zeylanicum bark extract, salvia sclarea (clary) extract, and kigelia africana fruit extract – all because of their strength against DHT.
Scalp circulation is also targeted with ingredients such as gingko biloba leaf extract, panax ginseng root extract, and arctium majus root extract, and arginine.
Growth stimulants that strengthen the inner root sheaths of hair follicles and prevent brittleness include hydrolyzed soy protein, ornithine HCl, citrulline, and glucosamine HCl.
The activator gel is not only designed to empower. grow, and restructure hair but to maintain color with these ingredients: acetyl tyrosine and calcium pantothenate.
I’m including the activator gel ingredients not just to bore you but to provide you with some insight as to their purpose. You can look up each ingredient online and see its benefits as a hair topical substance.
Now it’s on to the shampoo. Again, the shampoo is not going to be the agent that is crucial to protecting those follicles. It’s a gentle shampoo that is meant to clean the scalp of debris so that the activator gel can do its job.
Now I’ve read many Profollica reviews, and I’ve never seen a complete list of the shampoo’s ingredients. So, this review will be the first to do so:
Profollica shampoo ingredients – Water, Sodium Olefin Sulfonate c14-16 (coconut derived), Cocomidylpropyl Betaine, Cocamide DEA, DL-Panthenol, Acetamide MEA, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Sorbitol, Sodium Cocyl Collagen Amino Acid, Cocoyl Sarcosine, Wheat Germ Acid, Wheat Germ Oil, Linolenic Acid, Sulfur, Polysorbate 80, Oleth- 10, Jojoba Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Glycerine, Glycol Stearate, Trichogen (Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Arginine, Acetyl Tryosine, Arctium Majus Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Polyquaternium- 11, PEG 12 Dimethicone, Calcium Pantothenate, Zinc Gluconate, Niacinamide, Ornithine HCL, Citrulline, Glucosamine HCI, Biotin), Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, Fragrance Oil, Emu Oil, Essential Oil, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Germall Plus
Although I’m not a chemist, it appears that these ingredients can assist in the hair rebuilding process. I especially like ingredients such as jojoba oil, sulfur, polysrbate 80, hydrolyzed soy protein, and emu oil.
This is not Rocket Science but How Do I Use the System?
Alright, the shampoo part is easy. Use the same method you’ve always used for shampoo application. Simply, wet hair, and apply a liberal amount. Now comes the fun part of massage. Gentle massage from roots to tips, and leave it on for at least 30 seconds. Perhaps it’s best to leave the shampoo on at least a couple of minutes before rinsing.
Now, we’re getting serious. You can wait for your clean hair to dry and apply the Profollica powerhouse – the activator gel. Again, apply gentle massage (never treat your hair or skin rough!) and leave a modest amount of it on for at least 4 hours.
Some Profollica users recommend applying the gel to a wet scalp for maximum absorption. The decision to apply the activator gel to a dry or wet scalp is yours, but just make sure that your scalp is clean.
But don’t forget to attack your hair loss issue internally as well. In order to ensure optimal absorption, take the capsules with meals, one in the morning and one in the evening.
How Much Product Do I Get?
This is designed as a monthly hair care system but this is not a membership program. You just order on an as need basis which is an advantage.
The supplement contains 60 tablets per box. Remember, you’re taking two a day so this will last a month.
The Profollica gel contains 2 fluid ounces or 59 ml.
The shampoo contains 8 fluid ounces or 236 ml.
Time for a Price Check
First, here is the price for the kit encompassing the supplement and the activator gel at the time of writing this review:
Now, here is a snapshot of the price for Profollica shampoo:
Looking for a Profollica Coupon Code?
There are several cites that claim to provide a Profollica coupon code or discount. But the reality of any Profollica coupon, discount, or sale lies in the volume discount. As you can see from the above pricing structure, the cost of the product goes down when you purchase a greater quantity of it.
Therefore, other sites can claim that they’re offering a Profollica coupon code when they’re just letting you about the savings in purchasing more product.
The Profollica Price Seems Reasonable but is it Justified?
Profollica has an affordable price point but is it worth the money?
If it can live up to half its claims, it appears that this will be money well spent.
Let’s review Profollica’s claims:
- Helps to block the negative conversion of 5-alpha reductase to DHT
- Increases circulation, providing more nutrients to your starved follicles
- Controls sebum production that can interfere with hair growth
- Provides healthy hair vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that encourage the hair’s growing phase
- Ensures proper scalp hydration, alleviating dry and itchy scalp conditions; hair becomes more supple and shiny
- Enhances hair quality and texture, and improves hair elasticity making hair styling easier where your hair appears fuller while it’s growing
- Fights premature greying where your hair may return to its natural color
- Protects against sun damage
This product has the potential to restore hair to its former glory days. But remember, common sense should prevail, as this product can only serve as an adjunct to rebuild hair. A healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition, exercise, and mindset is essential if hair loss is to be curtailed and hair growth is to be encouraged.
Are There Testimonials Regarding Profollica’s Effects?
This does not seem like a hit-and-run company that’s offering a suspect hair loss product. It’s been around for quite some time and has garnered some very favorable reviews.
Now as I mentioned earlier, some of these Profollica’s reviews are completely skewed, and serve as a means for prospective customers to buy the product.
However, there are many reviews by actual users who tout the product’s effectiveness. As an added measure of credibility, there are folks in the medical community that share bountiful praise about Profollica. Dr. Dave David, a prominent cosmetic surgeon, for example, encourages his own patients to use the product.
Dr. David remarks: “As a doctor, I am the first to point fingers at the innumerable bogus claims made by many of the so-called hair regrowth systems being marketed today.
But I give Profollica my wholehearted recommendation. Any man looking to defeat hair loss could benefit from trying Profollica’s powerful three-step hair regrowth system.”
Dr. Karen Vieira, possessing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences and a speaker, author, and trainer, in scientific, medical, and health fields, also sees Profollica’s value. She asserts that Profollica “allows for significant hair regrowth using only safe, natural methods.”
But not everyone is enthralled with Profollica.
Profollica Negative Reviews
While the majority of users note hair growth or at least a decrease in hair loss, some Profollica users have slammed the product as useless.
This is not surprising as individual response will vary. There are other variables in place, including whether dissatisfied users have used the system in the prescribed manner and/or the type of lifestyle such users are living.
Still, even under the best circumstances, products may simply not work for each individual. This is why reviews are so important – to learn from others’ experiences, aware that your experience may or may not be different.
I feel strongly that Profollica is not a scam. A product that simply does not work for a given person should not be categorized as such.
A 60-day return policy also exists for some measure of consumer protection. You will have to send back any unused product within that time, and you should be credited the amount you paid minus shipping/handling.
A problem may occur if you’ve already used the entire product and are trying to return it. You can call their customer service toll-free number to speak to a representative about your situation.
Still, I’m hoping that your Profollica trial will prove successful.
I’m Willing to Give Profollica a Try, but Are There Any Side Effects?
I have not seen any Profollica reviews citing side effects. The manufacturer / distributor also assert that no side effects have been reported. Still, there exists a possibility that some folks have experienced adverse reactions but decided not to make any claims to the company or publicly.
While the formulation appears safe, it’s always best to speak with a trichologist, dermatologist, or your primary care provider about using this system.
Those who should exercise the greatest caution are pregnant women or those who are lactating. Individuals who are battling disease should also get doctor input.
But again, any Profollica side effects appear rare and non-serious.
Compared to standard medical options, such as Minoxidil and Propecia, any adverse effects from Profollica may seem mild.
Can Women Use Profollica?
The formula is specifically designed for male consumption, and Profollica does not recommend it to be taken by women. Still, the Profollica representative that I spoke with told me that many women are using the system with good results.
Be that as it may, I’m not comfortable recommending this system to women if the company writes in the FAQ’s that they don’t.
I can see the product helping if women are experiencing androgen-related hair loss, but there may be other reasons why females are losing hair. Illness, infection, medication, and chemicals may all cause hair shedding.
There are medical options such as minoxidil for women but side effects are more common to rear their ugly head.
Profollica vs. Rogaine
Until an unbiased, independent, clinical study is done, any Profollica vs. Rogaine discussion is purely speculative.
I just read a Profollica vs. Rogaine article which slammed Rogaine and its lack of effectiveness for most folks. Still, we know Rogaine has worked for many, albeit with less than stellar results on average. But remember, it is FDA-approved as a hair loss treatment unlike Profollica.
However, in defense of Profollica, they have not performed the vastly expensive clinical trials which would unequivocally prove it’s a viable option for those experiencing hair loss. But through word-of-mouth and favorable user reviews, Profollica is gaining a reputation as an effective hair loss alternative.
One obvious pro of Profollica in the Profollia vs. Rogaine debate, is its lack of serious side effects. In contrast, Rogaine has a list of eye-opening potential side effects: rapid or irregular heartbeat, skin rash and itchiness, face swelling, weight gain, tingling and numbness in extremities, and even shortness of breath and chest pain.
In light of side effects, it may simply make more sense to try a natural option as opposed to a drug. Still, no one can claim that Profollica is the winner in a comparison with Rogaine because I’ve never seen a study showing a head-to-head comparison.
Profollica vs. Propecia
I also know of no clinical study that compares Profollica with Propecia although both target DHT.
On Propecia’s side in a Profllica and Propecia direct comparison battle, Propecia is the only pill that is FDA-approved for the treatment of hair loss in men. (Women should not take Propecia.)
Although Propecia seems to enjoy better reviews than Rogaine, it still has engendered a lot of criticism. Specifically, many cite that it adversely affects libido and sexual performance. The Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR) mentions Propecia’s sexual ill-effects but asserts that 2% or less experience them. However, this percentage seems very low in light of the countless anecdotal reports that I’ve seen online.
Other Propecia side effects include skin rash, rapid weight gain, dizziness, body soreness, swelling of the face, depressed immune system … and the list goes on.
Propecia results can be very impressive in time, but for most folks, a desirable end result does not materialize. Moreover, the side effects may prompt many to quit before the drug can make a true impact.
Going with a holistic product, such as Profollica, free of major side effects, is understandable.
But sites declaring Profollica better than Propecia is terms of hair growth results are misleading. It may turn out that Profollica can truly make that proverbial difference but in the absence of clinical trials, it is irresponsible, if not dishonest, to declare Profollica superior to Propecia.
Alright, I Prefer a Natural Alternative. Will Profollica Stop Hair Loss?
An honest answer: There are no guarantees … save for the fact that you can return the product within 60 days if not satisfied with the purchase.
But remember, Profollica is precisely designed to stop hair loss by blocking hair-choking DHT and fortifying the body with essential hair building nutrients. There are thousands of happy customers who have achieved the ‘Profollica difference.’
Will This Product Regrow Previously Lost Hair?
So much depends on your individual circumstance. If the last time you spouted hair was decades ago, there is absolutely no change for you to reclaim that lost hair. But if your just beginning the agony of hair loss, or have just a few years battling an expanding scalp, the potential exists to revive hair.
However, it seems a more realistic expectation that Profollica will maintain your present crop of hair, and even make it look thicker and fuller. As time elapses, results should even be more impressive.
How Long Will I Have to Wait to See Results?
Using common sense and the company’s 60-day return policy as a barometer, it makes sense that results should be visible within two months. This is not an overnight cure and any Profollica review claiming so is just not providing honest information.
But with daily use, you will hopefully notice some positive change after several weeks. Even better, hopefully others will notice it, too.
Final Word – Should I Add Profollica to my Hair Care Regime?
Profollica continues to draw interest from folks who are looking for a natural approach to stop their hair loss, and regrow hair. As favorable Profollica reviews accumulate and positive testimonials are offered, Profollica’s popularity will continue to be on an upswing. Endorsements from doctors have also positioned Profollica as a serious player in the serious hair loss genre.
I appreciate the fact that it attacks DHT, the hair loss culprit, both from an oral and topical standpoint. This increases the anti-DHT effect which can only exert a positive influence on hair restoration. I also like the fact that the product seems free of any major side effects. It’s liberal 60-day return policy also provides a measure of reassurance.
Consumer feedback has been primarily positive although as mentioned earlier, individual results are unique. But as the hackneyed expression goes, ‘What have you got to lose but more hair.’
It seems Profollica will serve as a preventative measure in arresting hair loss, and very well may encourage new hair growth. It’s time to reawaken those sleepy follicles!
